GAS Steamboat Willie Public Domain Rookie Open Edition Trading Card

On January 1, 2024, all the copyrighted works from 1928 entered the US public domain, along with sound recordings from 1923. Highlights include Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence and The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht, Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman and Cole Porter’s Let’s Do It. However, perhaps the most famous work from 1928 is the animated short film Steamboat Willie. It is now in the ranks of the public domain, joining other iconic 1920s works such as Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis, and Maxfield Parrish’s 1922 painting, Daybreak
